About Me

Gary Howell is an attorney by trade, but a writer at heart. He’s written several shorts and features, and has had two short films produced, “Country Road 12” that stars Dee Wallace (“E.T.”, “Poltergeist”), and "Skip," produced by Vanda Lee and directed by CM Parish in late January, 2019.  He got his start working on a script with Matthew George of Acacia Filmed Entertainment ("LBJ," "Wind River," "A Private War"), and has had two features optioned: "According to Plan" and "The Journeyers", both co-written with  Rick Hansberry.

His drama pilot, “Bounty,” about a Texas bounty hunter, was a semifinalist at the WeScreenplay TV contest, a finalist in the Screencraft Pilot Launch TV contest, and a semifinalist in the Atlanta Film Festival.  He's also currently producing and co-writing a web series with Rick Hansberry entitled "Clean Slate" that's in casting at the moment and goes into production in April.  He continues to work on various projects, including a second comedy pilot, “Striking Out,” and a feature comedy (“Squeal Team Six”) about nerds who run roughshod over a high school which should be completed soon.

Gary enjoys reviewing scripts and providing advice and constructive criticism to other writers, and is available for hire on spec scripts or to work collaboratively with any producers/directors looking to work with him on any type of project.
